Retired marketing executive and current SCORE volunteer Bob Godlasky has been a mainstay in the CSUF Entrepreneurship program as a mentor for many years. Over that time, he has been a mentor to many students imparting the wisdom he earned after decades as an executive in the private sector. Last week Bob received the Special Ambassador Award from Dr. Deborah Ferber.
Dr. Deborah Ferber had this to say about Bob and his amazing contributions to CSUF Entrepreneurship:
Bob received this award for his amazing years of volunteer work for the CSUF Entrepreneurship Ambassador group. He has mentored students at the CSUF Startup Incubator and in consulting classes, judged events and helped to raise money to sustain the Center for Entrepreneurship.
Like Warren Buffet, he began his business career at nine years old on a newspaper route. His professional career spanned 40+ years in retail with national chain stores including Alpha Beta, Albertsons, Sav-On Drugs, and Longs Drug. He worked in various roles beginning as store manager. Over those 40 years, Bob held a variety of leadership positions. One of the most interesting roles was Senior VP of Marketing for the Intermountain Division of the holding company, American Stores. He operated 254 stores in 57 markets.
We are so thankful for all his contributions and volunteer efforts at the Center for Entrepreneurship. Bob is an example of how volunteer work can change lives and create a catalyst for the economy through entrepreneurship. He is my hero!
