CSUF Startup Competition Finals Covered by OC Register

CSUF Startup Competition 10-8 Systems

The Orange County Register just published a detailed piece about the CSUF Startup Competition (subscription may be required). I really liked this part about our winner, Bryan Ruef of 10-8 Systems:

Grenier said the judges had a good consensus about awarding first place to Ruef.

“I think his way of solving a problem was so crisp,” she said. “This is solving an immediate problem that makes a difference in terms of responding to an emergency situation.”

Kevin Ruef, who does business development and operations for 10-8 Systems, said he is amazed at what his younger brother has accomplished.

“Not only is this kid a full-time student, a treasurer for his fraternity, works full-time as dispatcher for (an ambulance company), but he also has this on his plate,” he said.

Bryan Ruef, who grew up in Mission Viejo, said the idea for his business started with a video game. And now he said he is excited to see it grow. The company has had incidents dispatched in 28 states and over 360 cities. They are still working on Orange County, he said.

The two brothers also have time at the Startup Incubator to look forward to.

“I haven’t been to the incubator yet,” Bryan Ruef said. “Now that I have this scholarship I will be. It’s an incredible opportunity.”

Really great article and if you have the time you should definitely check it out.
