What is the “gig economy“?
The gig economy is comprised of all those side jobs that you see your family and friends doing: everything from being an Uber driver to being a photo editor on the side. But the gig economy has become so much more than that. Many successful professionals have embraced the gig economy as an important part of their working lives and do consulting work, launch small niche businesses, and many other things that would not have normally been thought of as a kind of side career.
But how do you intelligently navigate the gig economy? Traditional educational outlets, like universities and popular media, don’t have great answers but we are bringing in someone who does: Matt Erickson.
Matt is currently an executive at Sandler Sales where he trains clients at all levels of sales people on the ins and outs of the sales process. The lessons that Matt teaches can be applied to any type of business, including every side job, hustle, and gig imaginable.
Once you venture into the gig economy you are pursuing a very entrepreneurial path and you must know how to sell yourself and your business. It’s not hard if you know what to do and this talk by Matt will help you get on the right track.

About Seminars at the CSUF Startup Incubator
The CSUF Startup Incubator is dedicated to helping enrich the entrepreneurial community through advising and the hosting of seminars with subject matter experts. Entrepreneurs who are working on launching a concept are encouraged to apply to become a part of the CSUF Startup Incubator. At the CSUF Startup Incubator, entrepreneurs work with our experts over the course of six months to develop and launch an effective startup strategy.
Entrepreneurs who already have a business and are looking for new ways to grow or to address existing issues would be an excellent fit for the CSUF Consulting program. Clients of this program work with a team of students, a mentor, and professor to create a comprehensive strategic plan that will align the business for future success.
