Research Week 2013

Research Week lasts a whole week but the really interesting stuff is happening, in my opinion, on Friday March 22 in the Fullerton Marriott. Why? Because that is when we will be there along with our friends over at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) (for more information about the SBDC’s involvement).

This event features a number of different opportunities for you to learn and improve. Here’s the itinerary for that day:

Friday, March 22, 2013

Today’s theme is “Conversations with Friends and Funders”.

The Center for Entrepreneurship will have a table there as well so you can stop by and chat and learn about some of the exciting new programs we have in the works.

One such project is called the Innovation Center. As we currently see it, the Innovation Center will be a university-level organization that is tasked with commercializing research done by CSUF faculty along with the general promotion and support of CSUF entrepreneurs. In fact, at this Research Week event on Friday, March 22 there will be six faculty members who will be presenting their research; research that one day might be commercialized by the Innovation Center.

The SBDC is putting on a wonderful workshop on technology transfer. This workshop will give you the ability to connect with experts on intellectual property and the SBIR/STTR application and funding process to commercialize your idea. Small business owners, entrepreneurs, students and faculty will have the opportunity to network to identify areas of mutual research interest.

So be sure to come to this free event (both in terms of registration and parking)!

  1. I’m looking forward to Friday as well. We have an intellectual properties attorney presenting from Knobbe Martens at our SBIR workshop along with other tech transfer gurus from our SBDC network and San Diego State University. Should be a great discussion.
