The Impact of CSUF Centers and Institutes

José Luis Cruz is the Provost of California State University, Fullerton and a major proponent of centers like ours, the Center for Entrepreneurship. What Centers and Institutes at CSUF do is promote and encourage the growth of specific areas of research and/or student and community development. Provost Cruz had this to say about the Center for Entrepreneurship in a recent article he wrote for the OC Register:

The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics conducts numerous outreach and support activities for the variety of entrepreneurial initiatives within the college, involving an army of students, faculty members, alumni and community members. Through innovative projects, such as the CSUF Startup Incubator to the award-winning Small Business Institute, the CFE offers students the chance to engage in practices that are both high-impact for their clients — the businesses and organizations of our larger community — and for their own education.

We sincerely appreciate all of the support that Provost Cruz has given to us and the rest of the Centers and Institutes on campus. Provost Cruz will be transitioning into a new position as the President of another university and we are sure he will bring the same values of collaboration and innovation to his new position that he has brought to CSUF.

The whole piece written by Provost Cruz, The ‘ripple effect’ of the university’s centers and institutes, is definitely worth the read as it talks about how one of the organizations on campus was intricately involved in a recent discovery about gravity waves and another campus organization is helping to give a voice to the past through the creation of oral histories.
