Every week we update our community on the important news and events that are happening at CSUF Entrepreneurship. This week, we are focusing on preparing for the Titan Fast Pitch competition. The information is below and you can become an CSUF Entrepreneur Insider by clicking this link so that you will be kept up-to-date on everything that is happening in the CSUF Entrepreneurship community.
Earlier this semester Sigma Upsilon Mu, one of our entrepreneurship clubs, hosted the 8 Hour Business Challenge and Travis posted some interviews with the winners. That competition was a great way to get more CSUF students interested in entrepreneurship and in being proactive about their futures. On October 29, we will be hosting the Titan Fast Pitch competition to accomplish the same goals on a bigger scale. Open to all (not just CSUF) university and high school students, the Titan Fast Pitch has been a mainstay of our student outreach for the last few years and for good reason. We are expecting over 100 competitors at this year’s competition and we hope that you can be a part of it as well. We need judges for the initial round of the competition, competitors at both the university and high school levels, audience members to cheer on all the student-entrepreneurs, and donors. Click on the link above to reserve your place in this competition or leave a comment on this post to find out how you can get involved. This week, we are also continuing our Wednesday Speaker Series with Design Strategies for a more Profitable Business with UI Designer Adam Rasheed. During this talk, attendees will come to understand Adam’s tested lessons for designing websites that makes users happy and ushers them through the sales funnel. We also have three of our expert mentors in for office hours this week as well. Later today, CFO Andrew Carroll will have office hours from 1pm to 4pm, Professor of Entrepreneurship Jeff Longshaw will hold office hours on Tuesday from 3:30pm to 6pm, and executive coach Dave Kinnear has office hours on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. All of these office hours are free and open to the public at the CSUF Startup Incubator. All of these events are designed to help prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs and to assist all the other members in our community in their entrepreneurial endeavors. We couldn’t accomplish this without you. Thank you! We hope to see you soon! Sincerely,
John Bradley Jackson |

There is always a lot of promise in startups: the sky is the limit!
But getting from startup to a sustainable and profitable business is not easy. It’s a difficult undertaking that most entrepreneurs, especially first time entrepeneurs, aren’t prepared for. Basically, trying to take a startup and make it into a successful business for most people is like trying to find buried treasure without a map.
That is why we are so glad to have Jeff Greenberg in to talk. He has six key metrics that he uses that determine how well a startup is doing in making that transition into a successful business. Those metrics are: Product, Management, Financing, Staffing, Revenue, and Operations. Come by to find out what these metrics are, how to interpret them, and how they change as a startup evolves into a successful business.
