How to Enter
To compete, submit your business idea through the online portal for review. If selected, you’ll move on to the live pitch round, where you’ll present to a panel of judges.
Entry Requirements
- Submit a 30-second video elevator pitch by February 26, 2025, to be considered for the final round.
- Finalists will present a 3-minute live pitch with a presentation deck.

Competitors will be evaluated based on:
Delivery
- Strong opening and engaging progression
- Confident and dynamic presentation style
- Depth of knowledge and passion
- Effective time management
Idea
- Clarity of the problem being solved
- Novelty and scalability of the solution
- Market potential and business model viability
- Quality of supporting data and research
- Appropriateness of the funding request

How much time does each team get to pitch?
Finalists will have 3 minutes to pitch, followed by feedback and Q&A. There will also be an “open mic” session for non-finalists to deliver a 30-second elevator pitch.
What should teams present?
Use the example pitch deck and judging criteria as a guide. If applicable, product prototypes may be showcased.
Do competitors need to be associated with Chapman University?
No! The competition is open to entrepreneurs from across Southern California.
How many people can be on a team?
There are no team size restrictions—both individuals and teams are welcome.
How far along should the idea or business be?
There are no restrictions. Whether you have an early-stage idea or a revenue-generating business, you’re encouraged to apply.
