Titan Fast Pitch Competition Announced!

Below is the CSUF Entrepreneurship weekly newsletter. It is packed with information and events that will help you start and grow your business! To make sure you don’t miss another newsletter please join now.

Our Titan Fast Pitch Competition is a student-entrepreneur sensation open to all university and high school students!

Having taught and mentored countless student-entrepreneurs over the years I am frequently amazed by their business ideas. They are creative, exciting, and many of these ideas transcend the traditional concepts from years’ past. One of the competitors that most exemplifies this ethos was John Chi. He pitched his concept for a stem cell therapy that significantly alleviates chronic pain for sufferers of arthritis and other diseases. John developed this concept as a student-entrepreneur at Cal State Fullerton and he has launched his business, Synova Life Sciences, due in part to his experiences at the Titan Fast Pitch Competition.

There are many other stories like this and I look forward to hearing many more at the Titan Fast Pitch Competition on October 29 at the CSUF Titan Student Union.

If you are a student this competition is the perfect forum for your idea. You will get feedback from our expert panel of judges and you can win a scholarship if you are one of the top finishers! Make sure to reserve your spot in the Titan Fast Pitch Competition by going to the event page. There is no entry fee for this competition; it’s all upside.

We also have a need for judges. During the first round of the competition, competitors will get the opportunity to make their sixty second pitches to as many judges as possible. This coliseum-style round requires dozens of judges who are business experts to score the students’ business pitches. I know that our community has many such individuals and if you are interested please send us an email to csufentrepreneurship@fullerton.edu to learn about how you can become a judge.

Also, this competition is open to the public for free. Make sure to go to our event page to reserve your seat today!

Thank you in advance to everyone who will make this Titan Fast Pitch Competition another huge success for our community!

Sincerely,

John Bradley Jackson
Director, CSUF Center for Entrepreneurship

There is always a lot of promise in startups: the sky is the limit!
But getting from startup to a sustainable and profitable business is not easy. It’s a difficult undertaking that most entrepreneurs, especially first time entrepeneurs, aren’t prepared for. Basically, trying to take a startup and make it into a successful business for most people is like trying to find buried treasure without a map.
That is why we are so glad to have Jeff Greenberg in to talk. He has six key metrics that he uses that determine how well a startup is doing in making that transition into a successful business. Those metrics are: Product, Management, Financing, Staffing, Revenue, and Operations. Come by to find out what these metrics are, how to interpret them, and how they change as a startup evolves into a successful business.
