Here’s a great competition for CSUF students that is run by CSUF students, namely our entrepreneurship co-ed fraternity Sigma Upsilon Mu, called the 8 Hour Business Challenge. I can try to explain what this competition is to you but they have already done so on their event page (which is where you need to register if you want to compete). Here is most of it but make sure to go to the event page for all the information and to register! The event is this Friday, September 9 so make sure to act fast.

Are you the best? Then prove it and sign up to compete against the best! Join students from all over Southern California to build your business concept, and then pitch to a room full of business professional, entrepreneurs, and investors.

The Challenge

At the challenge, you will form into teams, come up with a business idea, validate that idea, create a prototype, do cost/profit analysis, develop an elevator pitch, develop a commercial, and develop a business pitch. The entire event is scheduled and designed to allow you to develop the business concept in 8 hours. You will be following a very detailed process, and mentors will be there guiding the teams. Once the 8 hours are up, you will pitch your business plan to judges, and a room full of entrepreneurs, investors, and business professionals.

There is a $15 dollar fee to participate. That will cover food, drinks and material for the participants.

The rules are simple:

  • The ideas must be original
